Extensive Civils project for Lythe Hill Park

CountyClean Group Undertake Extensive Civils Project for Lythe Hill Park

Brief: Lythe Hill Park, located in picturesque Haslemere, Surrey, contacted the experts at CountyClean Group for assistance with a civil engineering job located on their private estate close to Guildford. The client’s septic tank filter beds were not draining away effectively and as such, CountyClean were asked to ascertain what could be done to rectify the issue. A subsequent follow-up plan was needed to ensure the system was fully functional for the client. The CountyClean Group’s civil engineering experts were requested to oversee the entire project, from initial enquiry to post completion client follow up.

Solution: No job is too big, or too small for CountyClean Groups expert Civils team. It was up to the team to decide on the best course of action, ensuring the work carried out was both cost effective and the most suitable, timely solution for the client’s needs. Following the discovery of line fractures and displaced joints, allowing the surrounding ground to infiltrate the existing line and soil to enter the outfall flow. The client’s system required a replacement discharge line, covering a distance of 50 metres and the construction of 3 manholes with external backdrops to accommodate the gradient.

The system was carefully designed to overcome the gradient of a steep hill on the land, and the team had to carefully plan to ensure the job was completed on schedule, with minimum disruption, despite adverse weather conditions endeavouring to hamper their efforts!

The three week job required the CountyClean Group’s Civil engineering specialists to design a bespoke system, as well as complete deep excavation work in a 4 metre deep trench, some hostile weather conditions meant a temporary pipe had to be installed above ground to divert all flows away from the works area.  The team drew on their deep excavation and engineering experience to ensure the job was completed to highest standard and the system was compliant with Environment Agency guidelines.

Result:The project was completed on time, within budget and with minimum disruption to operations at the site.  Despite an already wet hillside causing swamp like conditions for the team, the water was pumped away with minimum disruption to the overall replacement.  The Lythe Hill Park septic tank and sewage system are now fully functioning again, with the effluent outfall from the waste treatment plant working efficiently and safely to Environment Agency standards at this country retreat.

Director of Lythe Hill Park Ltd, Peter Goodwin was very pleased with the service and efficiency, saying, “CountyClean are the first company to have successfully totally emptied our 10,000 gallon cesspit using four inch pipes.  The rebuild of the filter bed drainage system was a large civil engineering project on a very steep and wet slope, but was carried out with professionalism, within the time frame set and on budget.

The team are well managed and there was always good communication with the engineers and the sales manager, all of whom managed a smile in the most trying of circumstances over a 12 day period! As a result we asked for more work to be undertaken on our filter bed troughs which has now been successfully completed.”
